What are the primary generations today?

Correction: The oldest generation is called the Greatest Generation. They survived the Great Depression and saved the world from Tojo, Hitler, Joe Stalin, and FDR.

I am grateful to an alert reader for pointing this out to me. Our new and improved (yeah, right) modern world would hate to give the parents of the baby boomers any credit. After all, they only sacrificed everything, including their own lives in wars to defend our America. They are indeed, The Greatest Generation!

-Sheila Tolley-

Currently, five generations make up our society. Each of those five generations has an active role in the marketplace. Depending on the specific workplace, the workforce includes four to five generations. Here are the birth years for each generation:

  • Gen Z, iGen, or Centennials: Born 1996 – TBD
  • Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1977 – 1995
  • Generation X: Born 1965 – 1976
  • Baby Boomers: Born 1946 – 1964
  • Traditionalists or Silent Generation: The Greatest Generation: Born 1945 and before

  2. Dear Sgt. York and Audie Murphy….I thank you so much for this wake-up call. I have corrected the post to reflect this information.
