Although Don McLean only released the song in 1971, for those of us who grew up in the 50’s and 60’s this is a great piece with some very poignant moments in the history of those times.
And for those of you who did not, it’s a taste of what you missed! I have listened to American Pie for many years and I thought I understood the meaning of all the words. Now I realize that I didn’t!
However, when the words are put together with pictures and film clips the song takes on a new meaning.
It took a lot of thought to produce this and it brings back lots of memories and also makes the lyrics really come alive!

Barack Obama and Black Liberation Theology
What is Black Liberation Theology? Barack Obama’s former pastor, Jeremiah Wright catapulted Black Liberation Theology onto a national stage, when America discovered Trinity United Church of Christ. Understanding the background of the movement might give better clarity into Wright’s vitriolic preaching. A clear definition of Black Liberation Theology was first given in 1969 by the National Committee of Black Church Men in the midst of the civil rights movement.
Black theology is a theology of black liberation. It seeks to plumb the black condition in the light of God’s revelation in Jesus Christ, so that the black community can see that the gospel is commensurate with the achievements to black humanity. Black theology is a theology of “blackness.” It is the affirmation of black humanity that emancipates black people from White racism, thus providing authentic freedom for white and black people. It affirms the humanity of white people in that it says ‘NO’ to the encroachment of white oppression.
James Cone, the chief architect of Black Liberation Theology in his book “A Black Theology of Liberation” (1970), develops black theology as a system. In this new formulation, Christian theology is a theology of liberation – “a rational study of the being of God in the world in light of the existential situation of an oppressed, relating the forces of liberation to the essence of the gospel, which is Jesus Christ,” writes Cone. Black consciousness and the black experience of oppression orient black liberation – i.e., one of victimization from white oppression. One notable quote from Cone describing Black Liberation Theology is as follows:
“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.”
The same Black Liberation Theology subscribed to by Trinity is clearly what Obama subscribed to. His actions in his regard tell us so. He had been going and donating to that particular church for over twenty years. Obama states in his own book, “The Audacity of Hope”, that he sought this type of church out, went to it, and then decided to join it precisely because of its theology/ideology and its activism in this regard. As stated, he was raising his kids in it, immersing them … baptizing them into it. And Reverend Wright did the immersing and baptizing.
That theology can easily be reconciled to its good actions in the black community and the hateful rhetoric it employs by simply studying it. This is something that most of the main stream media has either not done, or refuses to do, because the underlying doctrine is so repulsive that it should negate any political candidate in any way closely associated with it … and that is something that most of the media and the DNC does not want to do. Again, Black Liberation Theology is the admitted theology of Reverend Wright, the other pastors at Trinity, and the congregation. It is something that helped form Obama and his views.
That theology accepts a perverted and wrested interpretation of Jesus Christ where it describes him as a poor black man (or man of color) living under oppressive rule (the Romans) and that he was as much about social change and bringing down the government as he was about spiritual liberation. He therefore meets Cone’s (and adheres to this perverted view of our Savior) criteria for a God who supports their black power insurgency against what they describe as the ruling rich white men and women in America. This interpretation perverts the love of all men that Jesus Christ taught, the peace, the forgiveness, and inner, spiritual focus of Christ and His atonement, which teaches us the change His atonement brings within us heals us spiritually, creating a new man fashioned after Christ who teaches by example, love, and long suffering.
“Understanding that Black Liberation Theology is Marxism dressed up to look like Christianity helps explain why there is no conflict between James Cone’s “Christianity” and Louis Farrakhan’s “Nation of Islam.” They are prophets in the same philosophical (Marxist) pod, merely using different religions as backdrops for their black power aims.”
The American Thinker, May 2008
Black Liberation Theology is just the opposite of white supremacy. Does this mean Barack Obama is a black supremacist?

WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!
A SIMPLE TRUTH FOR TODAY
There is nothing so bad that politics cannot make it worse.
Well, Well….just listen to them! They casually remove God from their lives and try to remove God from our lives. THEY WILL NEVER TAKE GOD FROM MY MIND AND DEEDS! That is certainly their personal decision to make on this little measly planet called Earth.
I rather enjoy the fact that these Democrats hate gates, walls and fences. After all….Heaven must have a wall or it would not have The Pearly Gates.
Hell has no walls and forever is a long time. That’s right….No walls there…jump right on in! Just tell old Satan that you are seeking asylum! Enjoy your forever hereafter…..all you deniers of God!
Dear David Simon, Christine Vachon and Mark Duplass:
My state, Georgia, is the number one filming location in the world. If I had control of the situation, I would deny you three Liberal Jackasses the privilege of filming in my state. Take your Blown Deadline and Killer Films Productions to another state that appreciates the murdering of babies.
