RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PEOPLE UNDER THE AMERICAN SYSTEM

It was a basic principle of the American experiment that it was to be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The corollary to this primary principle was the obvious barb that this American type of government would not function efficiently, and perhaps might not even survive, if the PEOPLE did not maintain a constant vigilance and thereby develop what Jefferson called an intelligent and informed electorate.

It was customary in some of the early state legislatures to have powerful spokesmen of the day come before the representatives of the people at one of their early sessions and remind them of the importance of the lawmaking process. An eloquent example of this kind of dissertation is found in a speech by patriot Samuel Langdon before the Massachusetts legislature in 1788. He declared: “On the people, therefore, of these United States, it depends whether wise men, or fools, good or bad men, shall govern … Therefore, I will now lift up my voice and cry aloud to the people … From year to year be careful in the choice of your representatives and the higher powers of government. Fix your eyes upon men of good understanding and known honesty; men of knowledge, improved by experience; men who fear GOD and have covetousness; who love truth and righteousness, and sincerely wish for the public welfare … Let not men openly irreligious and immoral become your legislators … If the legislative body are corrupt, you will soon have bad men for counselors, corrupt judges, unqualified justices, and officers in every department who will dishonor their stations … Never give countenance to turbulent men, who wish to distinguish themselves and rise to power by forming combinations and exciting insurrections against government … I call upon you also to support schools in your towns … It is a debt you owe your children.”

What Samuel Langdon warned us about is come true today. One true American has just to look at what is going on in Washington D.C. today and realize the Republic is in danger of being overthrown by the far left. How did this happen? People just don’t care as long as it doesn’t affect them or their pocket books. They don’t vote and if they do, they just vote for the person with an I by his name, because they know nothing about the candidates. I have campaigned to have the letter I removed from the ballot because it gives an advantage to the incumbent. Make the voters research the candidates! Know who they are voting for. In our county, if we have a 20% turnout of the registered voters in an election, at the next GOP meeting we say “We had a good turnout.” Really? 20% turnout is pathetic. I guess you could say it was a good turnout, because in one runoff election earlier this year there was only a 9% turnout. The politicians  know all this and they all take advantage of the voter ignorance. They just tell the voters what they want to hear and when they get in office they do whatever the hell they want because once a person cast his or her vote, they say they have done there civic duty and voted. They never follow up on what the elected politician policies are once he or she is elected. One example of this is what just happened here in Georgia. We elected a Governor that we thought was a grass root candidate. President Trump came to Georgia and held a rally in his support. Our senior Senator Johnny Isakson has to resign because health reasons. Brian Kemp has nominated a woman which is  endorsed by the establishment, and not by the grass root voters. He ignored President Trump’s choice of Rep. Doug Collins, who is also the people’s choice.

Langdon also said support your local schools. I really can’t support the government schools we have today. If you really want your child to get a good education, home school or private school is the answer, not government schools. The public schools now indoctrinate, not educate. Allan Bloom wrote in The closing of the American Mind: “Students now arrive at the university ignorant and cynical about our political heritage, lacking the wherewithal to be either inspired by it or seriously critical of it.”  Commentators on several news networks have visited differ college or university campuses and ask students questions concerning our government and the history of America. Anyone they ask is clueless as to their American heritage. They can’t even tell you what country we declared our independence from.

So I say to you patriot Samuel Langdon, I had to be the bearer of sad news. You just wasted your breath. We have men and women openly irreligious and immoral become our legislators, we have bad men and women for counselors, we have corrupt judges, we have unqualified justices, and we have officers in every department who dishonor their stations. We have given countenance to turbulent men and women who wish to distinguish themselves and rise to power by forming combinations and exciting insurrections against government.

When I lay down at night, I wonder what is in store for our children and grandchildren and future generations of this country. My generation is the children of our greatest generation. We are holding on by a thread and that thread is President Donald Trump. When my generation is gone, the future generations have all been indoctrinated by the far left. We must never forget what President Reagan said: “Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” So who will be left to fight, protect, and hand freedom on to the next generation?

May GOD  continue to bless America, for he must know how much we need his help.

I have heard all my life the quote: “ That’s no way to run a railroad.” The federal government has taken it literally. All  you have to do is look at Amtrak, or the post office or any other governmental agency. Ringo Starr once said: “Everything government touches turns to crap.” No truer statement has ever been said.

 

A SIMPLE TRUTH FOR TODAY

America does not need to see the tax returns of a billionaire who became a public servant. America needs to see the tax returns of public servants who became millionaires while being public servants.
