Swoosh

The Nike Swoosh logo was designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971 for a payment of $35 (USD). This was when Nike was still a relatively young company, not the global giant it is today.

Later, as a recognition of her contribution to Nike’s success, co-founder Phil Knight presented her with 500 shares of Nike stock, which eventually became worth over $1 million as the company grew.

Today, it has become one of the most recognizable brand logos in the world, and the most valuable, having a worth of $26 billion alone. Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight founded Nike on January 25, 1964, as Blue Ribbon Sports.

Nike is the Greek goddess of victory. She is often depicted with wings, symbolizing swiftness and triumph, and is associated with both athletic and military victories. She is the daughter of the Titan Pallas and the river goddess Styx. Nike is known for her association with Zeus and Athena, often depicted alongside them, and is considered a symbol of success and achievement.
