Bulls are actually colorblind. The matador’s cape could be any color. It’s the motion that attracts the bull’s attention to charge, not the color red.
Catfish have approximately 100,000 taste buds all over their bodies, most of them on their whiskers.
It is dangerous to feed moose. Moose that are fed by humans become aggressive if the next human doesn’t feed them, and may end up attacking them.
In some species of turtles, the temperature determines if the egg will develop into a male or female. Lower temperatures lead to a male, while high temperatures lead to a female.
The Atlas moth defends itself by imitating a snake’s appearance and behavior. In addition to their impressive size, Atlas Moths are known for their extraordinary wing markings, especially at their wingtips. Incredibly, the patterns mimic the profile of a cobra’s head, a way to fool predators into thinking they are anything but an easy meal. Each of their wings also have translucent spots that are thought to act as false eyes, once again, startling a predator into thinking they’ve encountered something more than they can handle. While you can find beauty in the smallest of insects, the Atlas Moth certainly carries a bit more “wow factor” due to its massive size and appearance.
