My Husband retired from the Fed Gov. he also had enough quarters of Social Security to have received a nice retirement so between his Fed Gov. And SS benefits we could have been very comfortable. Then we found out that there was a rule for Gov. Retirees that they could not double dip. Meaning his SS benefits were cut back by about two thirds. Making our retirement years with less money than we thought we would have to enjoy. Now Lawmakers have secured enough signatures for house Speaker Johnson to take it to the floor for a Vote on (HR) 82 known as the Social Security Fairness Act. They will be in recess all of Oct. Coming back in Nov. We do hope for a Vote during that month. Meanwhile you need to let your Representative and Senator know that you would like for them to Discharge Petition for HR 82.
