An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain and is five times the size of a human eye.

The Kori Bustard is the world’s heaviest flying bird. They can weigh more than 40 pounds but still get off the ground.

The Wandering Albatross has the biggest wingspan of any living bird. From wingtip to wingtip, the birds typically measure a massive 12 feet across.

Albatrosses use their colossal wings to travel far out to sea. In fact, they can often go years without ever returning to dry land.

An albatross named Wisdom was recorded breeding on Midway Island in the Pacific Ocean in 2021 and was found to be 70 years old, making her one of the oldest  breeding vertebrates in the world.

The world’s largest predatory bird is the Andean Condor. They can have a wingspan of around 11 feet and weigh more than 30 pounds.

The marsh warbler, a tiny songbird native to Eurasia and Africa, is capable of mimicking the songs of around 80 other bird species.

The enormous swirling flocks formed by starlings at dusk are known as a murmurations. 

Thanks to a statute enacted in the 12th century, all wild unclaimed mute swans in the United Kingdom are legally the property of the British royal family.
