????? Some Food Facts

PINEAPPLE

When you sprinkle pineapple with salt, it becomes sweeter. It’s because table salt is mainly sodium chloride, and the sodium is effective in lowering bitterness levels in foods, making the pineapple less bitter. Scientists have found that salt diminishes our tongues’ perception of the sour taste that’s caused by the acidity of some foods, allowing the sweetness of the food to feature more prominently in our taste palates.

MUSHROOMS

Portobello, cremini, and button mushrooms are actually the same type of mushroom  and are just at different stages of maturity. They are all mushrooms of a species known as Agaricus bisporus. After these mushrooms sprout, they first grow into button mushrooms. If they are not harvested at the button stage, they will turn brown and grow into cremini mushrooms. If they still aren’t harvested at this stage, they will keep growing into large and fully mature Portobello mushrooms.

This one species of mushroom accounts for 90% of all mushrooms produced in the United States.
