The world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia, can grow up to three-and-a-half feet in diameter. It grows in Borneo. Because it attracts pollinating insects by secreting an odor similar to rotting meat, it is also known as the “corpse” flower.

The world’s smallest flowering plant is called Wolffia. It can reproduce by cloning itself, and if left unchecked could potentially continue reproducing until it cloaks the entire surface of the Earth.

Despite its woody appearance, bamboo is actually a type of grass. A single blade of bamboo can grow as much as three feet in a single day.

Just under 97% of a cucumber is pure water.

Some flowers can move their flower heads from side to side throughout the day so that they follow the sun across the sky. This movement is known as heliotropism.

The world’s tallest sunflower grew to a height of 30 feet.

The central trumpet-like tube of a daffodil flower is called the corona.

Of the world’s flowering plants, 80% are pollinated by bees.
