In 2003, two men stole a Boeing 727 from an Angolan airport and were never seen again.

Boeing has created a new metal called “microlattice” that’s 99.99% air; so light, in fact, that the metal can sit on top of a dandelion without crushing it.

Ukrainian engineer Vladimir Tatarenko has designed an airplane with a detachable cabin. In the event of an emergency, the cabin breaks off, deploys parachutes, and floats passengers safely to the sea or ground.

In 1992, the CEO of Southwest Airlines and Steven’s Aviation settled a dispute over who would use the slogan “Plane Smart” by arm-wrestling instead of dealing with a drawn-out legal battle.

The world record for the most passengers carried on a commercial aircraft was set on May 24, 1991 when over 1,000 Ethiopian Jews were evacuated to Israel. The flight started with 1086 people on the plane but ended with 1088 people because two of them had babies en route to Israel.
